Firmware update for the 25-200mm F/2.8-5.6 Di III VXD G2 for Sony E-Mount
This firmware update bring improved “1:2 half-macro or greater” maximum magnification ratio for the focal length range of 25-70mm. This means you can capture subjects larger than before, which makes for more impactful close-up photography.
Half-Macro or Greater Magnification from 25-70mm1 — Evolved and Overwhelming Close-Up Performance
At the 25mm wide end, the lens achieves an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of just 0.16m (6.3in) allowing for an impressive maximum magnification ratio of 1:1.9 — an improvement over the 1:3.1 of the 1st-generation model at its 28mm. Furthermore, the 25-200mm F2.8-5.6 G2 achieves a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 or greater throughout the 25-70mm range, enabling half-macro performance.2
